two- monks have it hard. when i paly as my monk, i have to run away from annoying warriors that chase me around. and enemies do move-especially when doing their favorite passtime- attacking a monk. with my kd war basically all i do is go after a monk.
3- in pve warriors do keep people alive. its called tanking.
4-sometime a monk cant move. ive seen alot of enemies cast ward against foes, hamstring, mesmer burden skills, and others. thats when monks ned protecting the most.
most of the time when you lose a mission its because your monk either dies or has no energy. if you hav a war protecting the monk, (1)it wont take damage and die, and (2) they wont need to heal themselfs therefore saving energy.
consider all these, then edit your post.
1) Yes I have, and in pve it isn't hard to get away from enemies... They get bored after a while. Unless you're playing in hard mode, which seems like you aren't.
2) Monks wouldn't have it hard if the tank did his job CORRECTLY. A tank just sits there and soaks up the damage. He's meant to be in the FRONT LINE, not the middle line. He has the most armor and health. If he moves, the enemy moves, and sometimes targets the squishies, which is bad luck. This is the only instance when monks would need protection, and that's where two monks are nice in the harder areas of the game.
3) They keep enemies from attacking the squishies. Which, yes, DOES keep people alive. You're half right in this one, which is progress.
4) Condition removal is your friend. Use it. Ward against foes is an ELE skill, and eles ususally don't go anywhere near the monk, even if the tank is being a dumbass.
Consider THESE, then edit YOUR post.

Timmy,
This thread is a year old. If you want to argue with anyone about what they said a year ago, you should be in politics. With the intro of hard mode and NF elite missions there is more tanking going on in pve than before. But other that uber difficult pve areas... tanking does take longer and is not properly executed by the average PUG.

here are some more recent threads discussing tanking:
